It begins with a phone call, email or a chat over a cup of coffee. This is where we get to know each other and ask questions. We'll discuss your personal style, family dynamic and any ideas and/or goals for your session. This way we can design a customized session around YOU! We want your Portrait Experience to be exactly that, an amazing experience! After all, great portraits begin with a great relationship!
Once your session is confirmed and your deposit is received, you will then receive access to the exclusive "client lounge" area of our website. This is a very cool place with valuable resources that will help you prepare for your Custom Portrait Session. You can download and sign your portrait agreement, get outfit ideas and even get tips on things like "how to take better iPhone pics of your kids". I mean, how cool is that?
Most sessions typically last 1-2 hours (excluding newborn sessions) and take place at a location of your choosing. We always encourage outdoor, natural lights settings and have a variety of great locations that we can recommend (if your not sure). Be prepared to laugh, make silly faces, lay on the the ground, hug and kiss — remember, this is YOUR session . . . enjoy it!
When we are finished hand - crafting all of your images, we will contact you to set up your private Portrait Premiere. This is where you will get to see your amazing portraits for the first time! You’ll want to have a babysitter for this exciting event, or we can schedule this during the day while the kids are in school. We will all sit down, have a cup of coffee (or glass of wine) and we’ll help you sort through the images and make final decisions on what pieces of art will look best in your home. You will also be able to touch and feel all of our beautiful fine art products — including our Classic Canvases and Heirloom Albums. We are able to show you the real size of your finished portrait on the walls of your own home (ask us how!), so it’s a great idea to have photos of your home ready so we can assist you in creating amazing fine art products that you are sure to cherish for years to come. All of our beautiful products are luxurious, archival pieces of art...which I know you will absolutely love!
We offer several session options to ensure the perfect Portrait Experience for each of our clients. The creation fees listed below covers the pre-session consultation (in person or by phone), your portrait session, post-session processing and polishing of your images and the private Portrait Premiere at our studio. It does not include any prints, products or digital files. Clients may purchase any of our fine art products A La Carte or in one of our packages (please inquire for more details).

Most Smile On Life Photography clients anticipate spending between $800-$3000 on their fine art portrait selections.
For the convenience of our clients, all major credit cards are accepted and payment plans are available. Maryland sales tax of 6% will be added to all products and session fees. Pricing is subject to change unless otherwise stated.
The Fine Print
- All fine art products and/or digital files can be purchased separately, they are not included in the sitting fee
- In order to ensure a spot on our calendar, the session fee is due in full at the time of booking.

- Travel above and beyond 25 miles (round trip) from Annapolis, Md will incur and additional fee.
